Our Alliance

Founded in 1982, the Alliance Française Bordeaux Aquitaine is a not-for-profit organisation and a private higher education establishment whose aim is to teach the French language and to promote francophone cultures and communication in French between cultures worldwide.
We welcome 110 different nationalities and more than 2 000 students each year.
The AFBA is part of the international network of ‘Alliances Françaises’ which includes more than 800 locally run Alliances in more than 135 countries. This vast network is under the umbrella of the by the not-for profit ‘Fondation Alliance Française.’

A high quality environment

Our premises which are located in central Bordeaux are air-conditioned and have disabled access.
Our fully qualified and experienced teachers use a dynamic and interactive approach making use of latest technology. All of our classrooms are equipped with interactive white boards and students have access to a resource centre to allow for independent learning.
An accommodation service for staying in a host family or hotel residence, cultural activities and a personalised welcome facilitate a complete and effective linguistic immersion.

The Alliance Française Bordeaux Aquitaine has been awarded the Quality Badge for French as a Foreign Language by the state, achieving the maximum of three stars for each of the assessed areas: management, premises, teaching, training, culture, communication and accommodation. It is the leading establishment for the teaching of French as a Foreign Language in Bordeaux.
