Culture

Because learning French also means discovering French culture, each month we offer you the opportunity to take part in various cultural, tourist and sporting activities to discover Bordeaux and the local culture. Essential for a complete immersion !

  • All our activities are provided or accompanied by a French-speaking facilitator.
  • The activities are reserved for students following our French courses.
  • Registration required at the cultural service of the Alliance Française.

Bordeaux tour

Tuesday, June 2

Visit downtown Bordeaux with a volunteer guide, who will provide you with various explanations about the history and architecture of our city and its monuments.

Cinema : Nous l’orchestre

Wednesday, June 3
6:45 – 8:30 pm.

Come and see Nous l’orchestre, a documentary following the Paris Philharmonic Orchestra and their conductor Klaus Mäkelä during rehearsals and concerts.

Cooking workshop

Friday, June 5
7:00 – 9:00 pm.

Discover French recipes at a cookery workshop at La Cuisine de Camille, where you’ll prepare a full meal that you’ll then get to enjoy!

Come and discover the colorful worlds of Henri Matisse and Frida Kahlo in an immersive exhibition at the former submarine base in Bordeaux.

Cheese tasting

Enjoy a tasting of several French cheeses and different glasses of wine, with explanations from the cheesemaker about the origins of the cheeses being tasted.

Guinguette chez Alriq

Make the most of the fine weather by coming along to an open-air concert at La Guinguette chez Alriq, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Chambres, ghosts et digitales

Come and see the exhibition Chambres, ghosts et digitales at the MECA, which explores virtuality through a variety of works and artistic worlds.

Excursion to Saint-Emilion

Thursday, June 18

Discover the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, with a tour of its underground monuments, followed by a visit to a château where you’ll be offered two glasses of wine.

Excursion to the Bay of Arcachon

Saturday, June 20
9:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Climb to the top of the famous Dune du Pilat, then enjoy an oyster tasting at the port of Larros, before discovering the town and beach of Arcachon.

Picnic on the Quays

Sailing initiation

Come and discover sailing at the Bordeaux Lac sailing center, where you’ll learn the basic techniques of this popular summer water sport.

From 5 to 13 June

The Chahuts Festival is back to celebrate the performing arts in Bordeaux’s Saint-Michel district.

Enjoy a varied programme featuring theatre, poetry and concerts.

10 YEARS OF THE CITE DU VIN

6 and 7 June

Come and celebrate the Cite du Vin’s 10th anniversary during this big anniversary weekend!

There are plenty of free events and activities on offer, including the 10th-anniversary gala evening in the gardens.

WORLD MUSIC DAY

As summer gets underway, the whole of Bordeaux will be celebrating the famous World Music Day on Sunday 21 June!
