On my arrival in France :
How
do I obtain my visa ?
We advise
you to contact the French Embassy or Consulate in your country to find
out the formalities required to obtain a visa. The Alliance Française
will furnish an enrolment certificate which will enable you to apply
for a long stay visa from the Embassy or Consulate. You can also consult
the internet site of the Ministère
des Affaires Etrangères or the 'Egide
.
If
I don't obtain my visa, will I be reimbursed ?
Yes, the amount you have paid will be reimbursed less the fixed charge
of 40 Euro to cover administration costs.
Must
I take out an insurance policy before I leave ?
Yes, you must be covered by an insurance policy for third party liability,
illness, accident, repatriation on medical grounds.

How
do I reach Bordeaux from abroad ?
You can reach Bordeaux by train,
plane
or coach
Who
will meet me on my arrival in Bordeaux ?
If
you are staying with a family, the family will meet you at the airport
or station. If you are staying at an hotel or flat, you must organise
the transfer yourself.
What happens if there is a problem ?
If
you have a problem on your arrival, there is an emergency number :

What
other activities are there besides lessons ?
We can offer numerous cultural activities after school hours ( visits
to chateaux, trips to the seaside, an evening at the theatre, welcoming
cocktail…) A list of all the activities is displayed monthly.
If
I choose to stay with a family, how far will I be from the Alliance
Française ?
Our hosting families are situated mainly in the centre of town. The
distance can vary from 5 minutes by foot or 20 minutes by bus.
Can
I work as well as following lessons at the Alliance Française ?
If you have a long stay student visa, you are allowed to work for
a maximum of 20 hours a week.
Is there access to the internet at school ?
Yes, there are 6 computers with free access for a period of 30 minutes.

My enrolment :
What
are the conditions in order to be accepted at the Alliance Française
de Bordeaux?
There are no conditions of age or preliminary diploma in order to study
at the Alliance Française in Bordeaux. We accept all people from the
age of 16 ( with parental authorisation).
How
do I pay for my stay ?
You can pay in Euro, by cheque, Euro cheque, bank transfer or credit
card (at the Alliance Bordeaux).
What is the delay for enrolling ?
A minimum
of one week before the course starts.
To enrol, you must send us : The enrolment form duly completed + the
payment for one month's course (which includes the price of the course
+ the enrolment fees) + the bank charges (if payment is made by bank
transfer)
If you need an enrolment certificate to obtain a visa, you must register
1/ 1/2 months in advance.

lessons :
How can I find out my level in French ?
After
your enrolment, you will be given a written test which will determinate
your level in written French. The tests are carried out by our teachers.
Do you have courses for all the different levels ?
Yes, we give courses for each level ; There are 4 sessions per year
for beginners.
When
can I start my lessons ?
There
are courses all the year round. Each session lasts for 4 weeks ( or
2 weeks during summer ), consult our calendar. If you are an absolute
beginner, you can only start on certain dates ( October, January, April,
July ).
How
many students are there in a class ?
There are between 10 and a maximum 16 students in each class.
Do
I have to bring my own books ?
Yes, you will have to buy them on arrival. !
