Conditions for accommodation in host family

>General rules

  • The host family and the student will endeavour to communicate in French even if the family can speak the student's language. However, the family will adapt to any difficulties encountered by a beginner and his or her nationality.
  • The student must adapt to the host family's way of life.
  • The host family and the student must mutually inform one another in case of absence ( for dinner, a weekend…) and if necessary leave a telephone number where they can be joined.
  • The host family and the student will agree on the hours of coming in and going out during the week and weekend, according to the student's age and self independence.
  • For half board accommodation, the family is not obliged to serve lunch at the weekend, however, they must allow the student to use the kitchen.
  • For bed and breakfast accommodation, the family must advise the student on the conditions of using the kitchen ( hours, using the fridge…).

    >Student's obligations
  • On arrival : The students are held directly responsible for informing their host family at least 4 days before their arrival ( date, hour, train, plane ) if they want to be met on arrival. They will ask their host family for advice ( visiting the town, Locating the main information centres ).
  • The bedroom : The students will have their own bedroom with sheets and towels. The students will participate in keeping their room clean and tidy ( make the bed, empty the wastepaper baskets, use the vacuum cleaner ) They will ask their family what the procedures are for washing their linen and ironing etc…
  • The telephone :The student will make sure that they do not receive too many personal calls at their host family's house.

    >Families obligations
  • On arrival : The family will meet their students at the station or airport on the day of their arrival. They must help their students when their arrives in Bordeaux ( accompany them on the first day to the Alliance Française, provide them with bus timetables, explain where they can buy a phone card as well as giving them any useful and practical information ).
  • The bedroom : The host family will supply thes students with sheets and towels. They can put the washing machine, ironing table, vacuum cleaner and cleaning products at the students' disposal.
  • The telephone : The family will allow the students to receive incoming calls from their family to confirm their safe arrival.

    >Bedroom only
    Comes under the same conditions and rules as for the accommodation + breakfast and half board. This service only offers the occupation of the bedroom, the bathroom and the use of the kitchen. The students cannot use the washing machine, but their family can show them the nearest laundrette.
